Architizer is an online platform for architects, industry professionals and consultants to seek out, assess and share projects between teams.

Founded in 2009, its purpose is to provide architects with all the information they need to construct better buildings and cities and leave a better world to future generations.

Presently active on the platform are:

  • 335,000 architects;
  • 86,000 projects;
  • 31,000 industry professionals.

Each year, Architizer holds the A+ Awards, a contest aimed at promoting awareness of architecture and supporting products that help bring ambitious projects to life.

Let’s take a closer look and meet the winners of the 9th edition of the Annual Architizer A+ Awards.

What are the Architizer A+ Awards?

The Architizer A+ Awards are the largest prize contest of their kind, aimed at promoting and celebrating architecture and the best products of the year.

The A+ Awards are streamed live on Architizer.com, the world’s largest online community of architects, before an audience of over 7 million people.

The jury panel is composed of experts from different sectors, such as design, technology, real estate and fashion, who nominate five finalists for each award category.

Finalists are then presented online, where design professionals and enthusiasts from around the world vote for their favourites. The winners of the A+ Popular Choice Awards are honoured alongside Jury-selected Winners.

Winners all receive the Trophy A+ Awards and are included in the yearly A+ Awards compendium, The World’s Best Architecture.

We live in a world of constant change, but with the 2020 pandemic, the pace of that change has accelerated.

The normality of daily life has been overturned, presenting us with a host of new challenges.

However, these turbulent times have offered designers an opportunity for innovation: a chance to transform reality, making it more resilient and creative and better prepared to tackle whatever the future brings.

This year’s A+ Awards

The 9th edition of the A+ Awards attracted more than 5,000 entries from over 100 countries. Among them were countless innovation projects addressing urgent global challenges – from climate change and the COVID 19 pandemic to urbanization and economic inequality.

A Jury Winner and a Popular Choice winner were selected for each of the 94 categories, with over 400,000 votes cast.

This year, in addition to these awards, a Special Honoree Award will be assigned to exceptional projects showcasing the extraordinary role of architecture in changing communities around the world.

“The designers behind these projects come from very different geographical and personal backgrounds, but they all have at least one thing in common: the creative courage not only to work on the present, but also develop brand new ideas for the future”.

Paul Kesky, Content Director, Architizer
